The Octavia Foundation is a community charity based in West London. It creates opportunities for people affected by unemployment, ill health or low incomes and uses its annual Impact Report to give its supporters an overview of its work over the past 12 months.
We wanted to get some real insights into their work and get to the heart of what ‘Impact’ truly meant. So we interviewed 8 local people to find out what difference The Octavia Foundation had made to their lives. We used a shot of an empty chair on the cover to represent the way people had sat and talked to us about their lives. John Angerson then used the same chair to take a series of engaging portrait shots showing the diverse range of people the charity works with.
The idea of impact informed the entire design approach, including the use of big, bold graphics, strong typographical pages, a bright colour palette and a large A3 loose-leaf format.
