Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s National Museum of Arms and Armour. Its vast collection is the largest of its kind in Europe, but much of it sits in archives. Around the globe there is a real hunger for genuine historic objects. So we were asked to create a set of bespoke materials to convince wealthy overseas investors to display items from the collection in their own museums, targeting the Middle East in particular.
We positioned these wealthy individuals as ‘Guardians of the Armouries’ and explained how investing in this highly historic collection would make them members of an elite club that was defending vital pieces of heritage for future generations. To communicate this idea, we created a unique monogram and solid wooden walnut box, as well as putting together a bespoke typeface and an interactive iPad presentation which allowed users to zoom in and out of museum pieces to see the extraordinary craftsmanship that had gone into them.
